TPV Rubber surfaces are a flexible, soft rubber surface solution ideal for playgrounds and recreational areas. When durability and comfort are equally important, TPV rubber delivers excellent performance, as well as being gentle on joints and much softer than traditional playground flooring.

Compared to real grass, TPV Rubber is low maintenance, durable, allergy-friendly and offers both vibrant and natural-toned colours for many different applications. Plus, there’s no mowing, weeding or chemical-laden fertilisers to worry about!

When compared to hard surfaces like concrete, brick or ceramic tile, TPV Rubber granules surfaces offer a more comfortable surface, lowering fatigue on the body and offering a much softer landing. This makes it ideal for recreational sports surfaces and creative immersive landscaping projects.

With more than 20 years of experience providing artificial grass and other synthetic surfaces Australia wide, Aloro Group is the best choice for TPV coloured rubber granules.

TPV Rubber Granule Flooring Frequently Asked Questions

What are TPV Rubber Surfaces?

TPV Rubber is a type of impact-attenuating matting that is made from multiple layers of rubber with a ~15mm thick coloured layer on top. It’s used to cushion people and objects from impact forces, giving it the nickname ‘softfall rubber’. TPV stands for Thermoplastic Vulcanizates, a type of rubberised polymer that is strong and highly resistant to UV degradation, making it a safe and popular outdoor surface for schools, sports surfaces, public spaces and recreational areas.

What are the Benefits of TPV Rubber Surfaces?

Whilst falls on hard playground surfaces like concrete can cause serious injuries, TPV playground rubber flooring helps to create an environment that is both safe and aesthetically pleasing. Unlike other inferior rubber surfaces, TPV does not harden, feel harsh to the touch, or disintegrate into gravel-like granules. From a maintenance point of view, TPV Rubber surfaces are extremely durable with the manufacturing process creating a strong bond between the individual granules. This means the surface is resistant to UV and mechanical damage, and it needs very little regular maintenance compared to materials like natural grass.

Are TPV Rubber Surfaces Environmentally Friendly?

There’s no escaping that TPV rubber granules are a type of plastic: thermoplastic vulcanizates are part of the TPE (Thermoplastic Elastomer) family of polymers. However, the TPV that Aloro Group supplies meets internationally recognised standards, containing no harmful materials. It does not leach pollutants into the environment and is a non-toxic and non-allergenic product.

What is the Expected Lifespan of a TPV Rubber Surface?

The properties of premium TPV Rubber surfaces ensure they do not harden or become brittle over time, with installations in harsh environments like the Northern Territory lasting 7 - 8 years without any noticeable degradation. When installed properly and using recognized brands such as Rosehill TPV, playground surfaces will generally last about 10 years before any type of serious upkeep or resurfacing is required, ultimately lasting as long as 12 to 15 years. TPV surfaces are made from high-quality rubber granules that are designed to withstand heavy use and challenging weather conditions, providing a longer-lasting surface than standard other options such as EPDM Rubber granules.
